Affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Network®
Community Hospital East and most of its oncologists are affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Network®, a program of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The affiliation brings new hope to local cancer patients with expanded diagnosis and treatment options.
Our physicians are board-certified medical oncologists/hematologists, radiation oncologists, or surgeons, and most are MD Anderson Cancer Network® certified physicians. Patients are supported by a team that includes certified oncology nurse practitioners in medical oncology and radiation oncology, nurse navigators, an oncology social worker, dietitian, financial counselors, pharmacists and a pain management group.
Navigators: With you from the start
At your first appointment, you'll meet a nurse navigator who introduces you to the medical oncologist and radiation oncologist. Navigators guide patients through cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery and survivorship. They help answer questions and provide continuity during a stressful time.
At Community Cancer Center South, our board-certified medical and radiation oncology doctors can treat all types of adult cancer diagnoses. We treat many types of lung, colorectal, breast, head and neck, prostate and gynecologic (uterine, cervical, ovarian) cancers. From the very first treatment, each patient is a cancer survivor who receives a customized treatment plan.
Oncology treatment services include advanced radiation oncology services, a dedicated oncology pharmacy for chemotherapy and oral medication therapy, lab, infusion rooms, and healing spaces inside and out. Because our medical oncologists are also board certified hematologists, the infusion rooms also treat non-cancerous blood disorders.
TrueBeam is a highly sophisticated delivery system for external beam radiation treatment of cancers. This non-invasive therapy uses precise, high-intensity beams of radiation to destroy cancers throughout the body.
Your healing is our top priority. Every detail of Community Cancer Center South was designed with individual patient care and comfort in mind. From the time you arrive, parking is convenient and close (valet service is available if needed). The three-story Cancer Center was designed to be a soothing, private place to heal during and after cancer treatments or when seeing physicians.
