Patients interested in the Lap Band System® and Orbera® should attend one of the Community Hamilton Pavilion sessions.

This is the express version of Birth & Baby, it's a one-session class held on a Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The same topics covered in the 8-hour Birth & Baby series will be covered but the information is very basic and fast paced. Approximately 1 hour is dedicated to each of the four topics: Labor, Comfort Techniques, Medical Procedures & Cesarean Birth, and Postpartum & Newborns. Most of the class is video followed by Q&A but comfort & baby care will be hands on. A tour is included.

This class is for nurses or doulas who work with obstetric and/or pediatric patients. In this 1.5 hour class, the participant will learn to identify appropriate essential oils and their use for obstetric and pediatric patients. Essential oil properties as well as contraindications will be discussed. Participants will learn to perform a light hand massage technique and complete a clinical aromatherapy competency checklist.

This two-day review course will prepare nurses to sit for the Medical-Surgical Certification exam. The program includes: techniques for preparing for the certification exam, pathophysiologic basis of various disease states including nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, identifying outcome and evaluative criteria to determine effectiveness of nursing care. The nationally known speaker is provided by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses.

Communicating with people who have Alzheimer's and managing behaviors - This program will explore how communication with a person with Alzheimer's changes with disease progression and will give strategies for more effective communication throughout the course of the disease. The program will also explore the nature of behavioral changes in the middle stages of Alzheimer's disease. It will include strategies to address difficult behaviors.

Proper planning and actions this fall will add great benefits to your lawn next year. Fall is the best time to fertilize, either once or twice. Most of the nutrients are stored in the roots for next year. The best time to sow grass seed is mid-August to mid -September. Perennial broadleaf weeds are best attacked in the fall when the chemicals are more likely to kill the roots. The class will cover annual, perennial, grassy and broadleaf weeds and the appropriate herbicides to use.
