Community Hospital South opens newly remodeled catheterization lab

For release on March 20, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS – Community Hospital South continues to bring state-of-the-art heart care to patients of south Indianapolis with its newly-remodeled catheterization (cath) lab. The updated lab affords patients access to minimally-invasive techniques available to diagnose and treat heart conditions, including heart failure, coronary artery disease and peripheral arterial disease.

An open house to showcase the renovated lab will be held Wednesday, March 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m

“The remodeled lab represents our commitment to deliver the highest quality heart care to residents in South Central Indiana,” said Tony Lennen, president of Community Health Network’s South Region. “It enhances our physicians’ ability to treat a wide range of heart-related clinical problems, including coronary artery disease.”

The updated cath lab is 600 square feet with state-of-the-art technology. The lab is equipped with the Philips AlluraClarity FD20 technology. The minimally-invasive system allows physician to complete a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures faster resulting in quicker recovery time for patients with reduced radiation doses to the patient, physician and the staff. The high-quality images allows physicians to capture and view detailed 2D and 3D images of the patient’s heart, arteries and blood vessels for a faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases.

“Heart disease is the leading cause of death for Americans age 35 and older. This new state-of-the-art technology helps our physicians provide faster and more efficient heart care for our patients on the south side,” Deovrat Singh, MD, cardiologist with Community Physician Network. “High quality cardiac imaging is important to successfully diagnose and treat heart-related diseases. This new system minimizes the procedure time for the patient resulting in shorter hospital stays, reduced recovery time, and significantly reduced exposure to radiation.”

Community Hospital South offers a full range of cardiovascular care including cardiac diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, halter monitoring, research and vascular surgery.
