During an annual fishing trip in Canada, Wayne was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. With his heart operating at only 9% efficiency, the cardiologists at Community Heart and Vascular equipped Wayne with LVAD technology. This Left Ventricle Assist Device helps his weakened heart chamber circulate blood. With the pump placed in his abdomen, a tube is brought out the abdominal wall attaching to a battery system around his waist.
Before the procedure Wayne lacked energy and had trouble reading due to low blood flow to his brain. Now he’s back walking, reading and building fishing rods.
Thanks to the talent and technology at Community Heart and Vascular, life for Wayne isn’t just good, it’s possible.
