Amputee

The amputee treatment teams at Community Rehabilitation Hospitals are dedicated to providing holistic care for patients who have had an amputation. The treatment team is led by a board-certified physician with a special interest in amputee rehabilitation and also consists of a registered nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist, recreational therapist and case manager. The treatment team focuses on promoting wound healing, providing the patient with appropriate adaptive training and equipment, and addressing the psychological impact of the amputation.

Patients will participate in individual and group therapy sessions on the unit, within the hospital and in the community, as appropriate to meet the individual's goals. The interdisciplinary team meets every week to update goals, adjust treatment plans and notify the payor of progress. Families are updated on an ongoing basis by the case manager.
