General Navigator

Brenda is a registered nurse and oncology certified nurse (OCN) with 35+ years of nursing experience in a variety of specialties, including emergency, OB/GYN, family practice and infertility. She began her career in oncology while working at the Simmons Cancer Institute in Springfield, IL as the primary nurse for a head/neck cancer surgeon with SIU School of Medicine. She then transitioned to be the oncology navigator at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL, working to develop their program, initiate survivorship care plans and teach smoking cessation classes.

Her passion is working in navigation and she believes it is a privilege to be in a position to provide emotional support, empathy, encouragement and education to these patients who become like family.

Brenda and her husband, Dave, have been blessed with three phenomenal children; three wonderful son and daughter-in-laws and two grandchildren (so far!). Brenda’s happy place is walking along the beach next to the ocean. When she can’t be at the beach she likes to travel, tries to be a golfer and enjoys cooking for others.
