Community Health Network, Johnson Memorial Hospital announce details of clinical collaboration
Franklin, IN---Franklin-based Johnson Memorial Hospital (JMH) and Indianapolis-based Community Health Network are moving forward with an exclusive clinical collaboration agreement, following approval by the boards of directors of both healthcare organizations. The agreement, effective June 1, 2011, will allow Community and Johnson Memorial to jointly develop new clinical services and facilities in Johnson County, while sharing a common mission of improving health through patient-centered health care services close to home.
As clinical partners, Johnson Memorial and Community will expand and enhance medical services offered to residents of Johnson County, increasing access to primary and specialty care physicians as well as imaging, therapy and other health care through satellite care locations. The collaboration is not a merger and will not affect the management, administration or ownership of Johnson Memorial.
“We see this as a positive step for everyone concerned,” said Larry Heydon, president and CEO of JMH. “The collaboration gives JMH and Community Health Network a greater, combined ability to serve the citizens of Johnson County, who, in turn, will have greater access to more health care services and specialty programs.” Heydon added, “It also creates a new approach to cooperation between our two organizations and among our physicians and professional staff that will allow us to intensify our focus on quality improvement and service to our patients.”
Besides new satellite care locations, the exclusive clinical collaboration agreement calls for expanding existing cardiovascular services offered at Johnson Memorial in partnership with Community Heart and Vascular, including coronary interventional services. In addition, cancer treatment services will be enhanced, with additional service offerings. Residents of Johnson County also will have increased access to Community’s tertiary care services and physician specialists.
“We believe this clinical collaboration will help the local Johnson County community remain strong and healthy by keeping the delivery of health care local,” said Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network. “Expanding access to health care for all is one of our main priorities, while we partner to create a seamless system for providing exceptional care.”
