Marina Hadjioannou Waters is president of LUNA language services, which provides language access to multilingual and multicultural communities. Prior to serving as president, Marina was chief operating officer at LUNA, where she oversaw the rapid growth of interpreting business through acquisition and management of government, healthcare, and private contracts.

Marina served as executive director and founder of Human Rights Works where she developed and implemented a K-12 human rights curriculum and legal internship program in partnership with IUPUI’s McKinney School of Law. She was also the legal officer for the United Nations Special Rapporteur.

Marina served on the boards for Exodus Refugee and Immigration. In addition, she was seated on the City of Indianapolis Language Access Council and was lead volunteer for the American Red Cross International Services Division. She is the former vice president of the National Council for Interpreters in Healthcare and current Head of the Policy and Education Committee. She currently serves as the board chair of the Community Health Network Foundation.

Waters was recognized by the University of Arizona Colleges of Law and Public Health as 2021 Alumni of the year for her work related to language access during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was named as one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s ‘Women of Influence’ in 2017.
