Caregiver Programs

When our Central Indiana neighbors experience unexpected or emergency situations, they often turn to Community caregivers for compassionate clinical and emotional support. Our caregivers see patients and families in some of life’s most joyful and most trying circumstances. Yet, what happens when unforeseen circumstances cause hardship in the lives of our caregivers? With the support donors, several assistance programs are available to our caregivers, bolstering them in times of need.

Donor Funded Programs

Lisa Borinstein Caregiver Assistance Fund

Community caregivers facing sudden or severe financial hardship may receive financial assistance through the Lisa Borinstein Caregiver Assistance Fund. Whether facing a qualified disaster or emergency hardship, any Community caregiver could access support that is not required to be repaid in order to help cover out-of-pocket medical expenses, food and transportation, post-trauma family support and catastrophic loss. The fund is named in honor of Lisa Borinstein, RN, a Community caregiver who tragically died in a plane crash along with two of her children in August of 2016.

Dale Fleming Employee Assistance Fund

When a full- or part-time employee or immediate family member may be facing catastrophic illness, the Dale Fleming Employee Assistance Fund can help. In these instances, the fund provides financial assistance for expenses related to caring for a terminally ill employee or immediate family member, excluding household or medical bills or debt; funeral expenses or travel expenses to attend a funeral. Launched in 2009, the Dale Fleming Employee Assistance Fund is named in memory of Dale Fleming, an employee of Community’s Human Resources Department, who passed away in 2008 after a long illness.
