Community Heart and Vascular

Bringing together the best in cardiovascular care

In January 2009, The Indiana Heart Hospital, over 30 cardiovascular physicians and Community Health Network created Community Heart and Vascular, the first integrated model for cardiovascular care in central Indiana. At Community Heart and Vascular, leadership is uniquely achieved through partnerships between heart physicians and clinical administrators, increasing alignment in quality, safety and service to patients, families and other physicians in the hospital and the medical office.

Ask a Cardiovascular Physician

Question: Fixed split S2—Hi, My cardiologist said I have a "Fixed" Split S2 (confirmed twice) and my holter monitor shows repeated tachycardia with many ST depressions. I am 38 normal weight but unable to exercise (used to be a ballroom dance instructor) and experience extreme fatigue w/shortness of breath on a daily basis. I am scheduled for a stress test and an echo w/bubble study but can't get in until next month. Are these the best tests for me to have? Any idea what would cause these symptoms?

Answer: It’s very good that you are under the care of a cardiologist. For those readers not as informed about your topic as you have become, a split S2 refers to the second heart sound. Normally, in the heart the aortic valve closes just before the pulmonary valve; however, this happens so quickly that it sounds like one sound named S2.... Read more and ask your own question >>
