Community Heart and Vascular

Mystery of the aching leg

Community Heart and Vascular is offering a $25 vascular screeningYou may have heard about peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a condition that puts 8-12 million Americans at high risk for heart attack and stroke. PAD affects arteries outside of the heart and brain, commonly in the stomach, arms and legs. According to the American Heart Association, nearly 75% of those affected by PAD will never experience symptoms, mistaking them for signs of aging. However, a simple screening test called ABI can provide early detection.

An ABI screening test is a quick, painless and accurate test that will detect symptoms of PAD. Good screening candidates are those over age 45 with other risk factors for vascular disease, including diabetes, smoking, hypertension, abnormal cholesterol profiles, and/or family history.

Take advantage of our $25 vascular screening by calling 800-777-7775.

Bringing together the best in cardiovascular care

In January 2009, The Indiana Heart Hospital, over 30 cardiovascular physicians and Community Health Network created Community Heart and Vascular, the first integrated model for cardiovascular care in central Indiana. At Community Heart and Vascular, leadership is uniquely achieved through partnerships between heart physicians and clinical administrators, increasing alignment in quality, safety and service to patients, families and other physicians in the hospital and the medical office.

Click to take the Know Your Numbers heart attack risk assessment, provided by The Indiana Heart HospitalOur ability to provide a more connected, coordinated and convenient experience is now greater than it has ever been, making your health care journey as simple as we can, to get you what you need sooner, safer and with a superior outcome. Ask a Cardiovascular Physician

Question: Pulmonary hypertension—What is the difference between pulmonary hypertension and regular hypertension?

Answer: Thank you for an interesting question. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is different from ordinary hypertension, which is high blood pressure throughout the body. In PAH, the high blood pressure is in the arteries between the heart and lungs. In patients with PAH, the pulmonary arteries that go from the heart to the lungs become tight, thick and stiff. This creates more resistance to blood flow.... Read more and ask your own question >>
