Marion has had both knees replaced, the most recent at Community Hospital East. Marion believes in Community's focus on patients first: "Community Health Network is a marvelous organization....I think they're very loving, very caring."
Her knee surgery at Community required only a two-day stay in the hospital, which she was thrilled to hear: "And I'm thinking, oh my goodness, two days and I'm supposed to come home and be fine? And I was! I couldn't believe it."
After in-home therapy for a couple of weeks, Marion began physical therapy at the Washington Pavilion. Her physical therapist, Andrew McClure, helped her to set strength and motion goals. Her main goal was to be able to navigate two steps from her garage into her home without assistance. With Marion's hard work and determination, she was able to accomplish her goal in a matter of weeks!
Her guidebook from the Center for Joint Health helped her understand the procedure beforehand and outlined helpful exercises to get her on her way to recovery. Because she was more prepared, she felt she got back to movement quicker, and was "feeling like I could do things."
Today, Marion is up and mobile, and better than ever. She attributes her smooth surgery and recovery to the skilled, caring people at Community Health Network saying, "If I'd known how great this one was gonna be, I probably would have done it at least several years sooner. This knee replacement was wonderful. It went so well I couldn't believe it. Everything was as it should have been and better."
