Youth Grief: Community Healing Hearts
We provide grief support and education to children and adolescents in the grieving process. Through proactive and preventive care services, our goal is to prevent the need for long-term support services or mental health treatment.
Memorials and More
Community Healing Hearts, in collaboration with InTouch Bereavement services offers a variety of free events focused on remembrance and healing throughout the year. Included are bi-annual candlelight memorial services and events focused on grief expression and connection with other bereaved in the community. All events are offered free to the community, though registration to most events is preferred to ensure adequate supplies and resources. For more information, please contact our bereavement line.
The population of children and teens experiencing the death of a loved one is rapidly growing. In response, Community Home Health and Community's behavioral health services have partnered to create Community Healing Hearts. Services are focused on supporting youth in telling their story, expressing feelings, using coping skills and addressing unfinished business.
Every child’s experience is unique, resulting in a range of responses that can span across academic, behavioral, emotional, spiritual and physical facets. By proactively providing grief support and education to children and adolescents, we may successfully prevent the need for long-term support services or mental health treatment.

I know I can’t “fix it” or make the death go away, but I can listen and help kids find ways to mourn and grieve in a healthy way.”

Support Healing Hearts
In 2012, the Community Health Network Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that raises financial support for Community Health Network patients, caregivers and Central Indiana communities, was awarded a Grief Reach Grant from the New York Life Foundation. Community’s foundation was chosen from among 60 national bereavement providers to benefit from the grant and one of only five organizations to receive $100,000. The funding is part of a national effort to expand grief support services to diverse and disadvantaged youth in communities not served by existing programs. Since 2012, the program has received additional grant funding from New York Life Foundation. Read story >>
The Community Health Network Foundation has also pledged to support the expansion of Community Healing Hearts in 2017.
