Midwifery Care

Community's certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are highly-trained professionals in women’s healthcare and offer a breadth of services. Many women decide to establish care with a midwife for personalized prenatal care and to experience childbirth as naturally as possible with minimal intervention.

Throughout your pregnancy, your CNM will work alongside you on shared decision making for your routine prenatal care and help you create a personalized birth plan for your delivery. CNMs serve as your partner in health to develop a care plan that incorporates the needs of you and your family with special attention to cultural values and personal preferences.

During your hospital stay, our team of nurses and midwives will offer labor support and guidance through the labor process. During your recovery, our staff will continue to monitor you and offer exceptional postpartum and breastfeeding support.

Women's Health

Though many women think of labor and birth when it comes to midwifery care, our CNMs provide so much more. At any stage in life, women can choose a CNM as their trusted partner in health. Our CNMs provide:

  • Annual gynecological exams and routine check-ups
  • Guidance on appropriate health screenings based on age and family history
  • Personalized education on nutrition and exercise
  • Preconception counseling and support
  • Family planning and contraception
  • Pre-menopausal and menopausal care

Our suites are designed for LDRP – labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum – all in one room, so you’ll remain in the comfort of your private suite during your stay.

We can provide you with unique equipment and support to make your labor experience as comfortable as possible, such as:

  • Birthing balls and peanut balls
  • Labor squat bar
  • Birthing stools
  • A shower large enough for you and your partner
  • Aromatherapy
  • A labor tub for hydrotherapy
  • Doula services can be prearranged
  • Lactation services and support groups

Safety and Comfort of the Hospital

Choosing a CNM at Community Hospital North means experiencing all of the benefits of midwifery care in the safest possible location for you and your baby.

Our team of CNMs collaborate to ensure that 1 midwife is on-site 24/7 to support your delivery plan around the clock.

The CNMs work closely with our team of OB/GYNs and Maternal-Fetal Medicine providers to ensure the highest level of safety for you and your baby if complications arise. Your care can be managed by a trusted OB/GYN partner within the network if your pregnancy risk level changes during prenatal care. And by delivering in the hospital, you will have immediate access to an OB/GYN and an operating room in case of an emergency.

If your baby needs specialized monitoring and care, Community Hospital North’s certified Level III NICU is ready to support the unique needs of your newborn with a multi-disciplinary team onsite 24/7.
