The Day of Your Procedure
Please arrive promptly at your check-in time. This will allow plenty of time to complete your admission process and prepare you for your procedure.
On the day of your procedure, please plan to be at the center for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Although your procedure may only take minutes to perform, the actual time of your procedure is hard to predict due to anatomical differences of individuals. Following your procedure, you will need time to rest in the recovery room.
In an effort to keep on schedule, we request that you arrive promptly at your designated check-in time. We value your time and realize how important it is. We make every attempt to stay on schedule, but occasionally a procedure takes longer than expected, or your physician may be delayed at the hospital for an emergency.
What to Wear
You should wear loose, comfortable, casual clothing that is easily removed. You will change into a patient gown before the examination. Avoid girdles, pantyhose or tight-fitting garments. During the procedure, please do not wear any other jewelry except a wedding ring. Additionally, your purse and/or wallet cannot be brought into the procedure room and will have to be left with your driver.
After arriving and checking in, you will be asked to review your registration information for accuracy. Our staff will copy your insurance card if we do not have a current one on file. You will be asked to review other documents; such as your discharge instructions and patient consent form. If your procedure requires sedation, we will also confirm that you have a driver with you to bring you home.
A licensed nurse will take you to a private patient room to discuss your specific procedure, review your discharge instructions and answer any questions you may have. When your questions have been answered, you will be asked to sign the consent and discharge documents. Your signature on these forms indicates that you have reviewed the forms and understand their content.
During the admission process, the nurse will review your medical history and will ask you other important health-related questions. The nurse will also take your blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation using sophisticated non-invasive monitors.
When your physician is ready to see you, you will be taken to the procedure room. Once you are comfortable, our nursing staff will place the monitoring devices on you. If you have questions at any time, please ask. Our licensed professional staff is here to assist you during your time at the center.
If you have been sedated, you will spend about 30 minutes to one hour in the recovery room following your procedure. As you wake up from the effects of the medication, our recovery room nursing staff will monitor your vital signs and level of consciousness.
Prior to your discharge, your physician will meet with you to discuss your test results and any necessary follow-up or treatment. As a result of the medication used for sedation, you may not have a clear recollection of your conversation with your physician. If you would like, we can also discuss the test results with a family member who is with you.
The nursing staff will provide you with detailed written instructions regarding your follow-up care. This includes information about diagnosis, medications, discomfort, bleeding, diet and information about follow-up appointments with the physician as needed.
Prior to your procedure, you received a sedative injection to minimize any discomfort. As this medication will make you drowsy and affect your reflexes for several hours, you cannot safely drive a car for the remainder of the day. To drive a car with the sedative medication still in your system is illegal and considered driving under the influence of drugs. This is a punishable DUI offense.
A responsible party must accompany you to the center to drive you home. If possible, you should choose someone with whom your physician can discuss the results of your test. We request that your driver remain at the center during your stay.
If any problems arise when you return home, please call your physician at the telephone number provided with your discharge instructions.
Your physician will inform you if a follow-up appointment is necessary. If this is required, please call your physicians office to schedule your appointment.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and mail it back to us. We monitor the results and implement improvements based upon issues identified from your feedback.
