What Is Cardiac Catheterization?

Cardiac catheterization is used to diagnose and treat a variety of heart conditions, including arrhythmia/fibrillation, heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, and more. A catheter is a long, thin, flexible tube that is inserted into a blood vessel in your arm, groin (upper thigh), or neck and threaded to the heart. Through the catheter, a heart physician can do diagnostic tests and treatments on the heart.

Heart Health Screenings

Community Heart and Vascular Care offers many opportunities for people to get screened for their risk for cardiovascular disease. Appointments are available for heart scans, vascular screenings and visible vein consultation. If you are not ready for a screening but are curious about your heart health, take our online health risk assessment to learn more about your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Questions about cardiac catheterization should be directed to your healthcare provider.
