Shannon Wesley, D.O.
Hi, I am a second year proctology resident at Community Westview Hospital. I am originally from a suburb north of Dayton, Ohio. After I graduated from Morehead State University in 2007 with a bachelor of science in biology, I moved to Erie, PA where I completed my medical school degree in 2011 at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. I love to travel, spending time outdoors and of course, my new puppy Addison.
And the question everyone asks, “Why proctology?” As an ambitious, goal-oriented female who has always had a love of science and medicine, I entered medical school with a strong-willed ambition for an excellent experience. It was hard to believe, as everyone would always say, “You’ll find your place in medicine.” My focus on anorectal and colonic diseases became more refined throughout my clinical training. With curiosity about my family history (my grandfather died of colon cancer) and my enthusiasm for proctology, I know exactly where “my place” was.
