Westview Hospital Guild
The Community Westview Hospital Guild is a charitable organization that receives and manages monetary gifts from individuals and businesses to further the mission of Community Westview Medical Campus. These gifts provide means for the hospital to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, subsidize valuable clinical education and community outreach programs, and projects that will improve the natural beauty of the hospital campus. As stated in the Guild’s bylaws, Article II – purpose:
The purpose of this non-profit organization shall be to promote and to advance the welfare of Community Westview Hospital of Indianapolis, Indiana. This purpose shall be accomplished through interpretation of osteopathy to the public, through service to the hospital and its patients, and through fund raising projects in harmony with the planned growth of the community. Where the needs of the hospital and the desire of the Guild conflict, the needs of the hospital shall be considered of primary importance.
Since its founding over 30 years ago, the Community Westview Hospital Guild has been synonymous with volunteerism. Currently, members of the Guild help to support Community Westview in three basic areas: volunteer service, fund raising and public relations.
History of the Guild
In October of 1966, nine years before the hospital opened its doors, an osteopathic physician named Marie Stirling, D.O., had a vision of a new ladies’ auxiliary to “join in the battle to get Community Westview Hospital approved and built.” The auxiliary would help to raise funds for the building campaign. Dr. Stirling recruited patients and friends to join together to form the Community Westview Hospital Guild.
On Sunday, June 10, 1973, Community Westview Osteopathic Medical Hospital broke ground for a new hospital, located at 3630 N. Guion Rd. in Indianapolis. This inspiring history of the founding of the Guild provides us with a true understanding of how the motto guided the accomplishments of a group of dedicated volunteers.
Members are invited to take part in luncheons, educational programs, entertaining presentations and fund raising activities. An annual dinner meeting is held in June, the Founders’ Day luncheon is held in November and a minimum of two other general/social meetings are held throughout the year. You can become a member at anytime throughout the year, however, an annual membership drive is held in the summer of each year.
Take this opportunity to join the Community Westview Hospital Guild and help us continue with our mission – to support the Community Westview Medical Campus’ facilities in providing hope, health and healing. For a membership application, call (317) 920-VIEW and ask for the Guild representative.
