At the Woman’s Center of Community Howard Regional Health, we understand that the needs of every woman are as unique as the woman herself. Accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Woman’s Center gives women the special attention they deserve and the opportunity to be more informed about their bodies and their health.
Think pink! $80 mammograms in October!
Have you had your annual mammogram? This year, we want you to “think pink” as you talk to the women in your life. Remind them how critical it is to have an annual mammogram. And tell them that during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Woman’s Center at Community Howard Regional Health is offering mammograms at a reduced cost of just $80.
Schedule your mammogram by calling 765.864.8929 Monday through Friday. Remember...October is the month to think pink!
The $80 fee applies to any mammogram performed in October. You must have a physician order, and we will not be able to bill your insurance for this specially-priced offer.
Mammography, stereotactic core biopsy, other exams, and bone densities are done in the convenient, private setting of the Woman’s Center outpatient facility located at 2201 West Boulevard, Kokomo. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 7:40 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Please call the Centralized Scheduling department at 765-864-8929 or toll-free 866-864-8929 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to schedule a time convenient for you.
The Woman’s Center tailors its services to each woman’s individual needs and features breast self-examination instruction, digital mammography, diagnostic breast ultrasounds, and stereotactic core biopsies.
The Woman’s Center offers free, private self-examination instruction to any patient upon request.
A mammogram is a digital x-ray of the breast. Mammography can locate a breast lump smaller than a pea, one that cannot be felt by hand for as long as seven years. All of our radiologic technologists are certified in mammography through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Breast ultrasound uses sound waves to create a detailed picture of the breast. By itself, ultrasound is not considered a screening procedure, but it may be requested by your doctor or recommended by the radiologist who reviewed the mammogram.
Mammography: Annually starting at age 40
Clinical breast exam: Every three years for women 20-39 and annually for women 40 and older
Breast self-exam: Monthly starting at age 20
Stereotactic breast biopsy
Stereotactic breast biopsy represents a new way to precisely and accurately sample tissue from a suspected abnormality found on a mammogram and is an alternative to a surgical procedure for diagnosing breast cancer. For more information, call the outpatient office at 765-452-0808, extension 30.
The Woman’s Center is equipped with Dexa Tablescan, which provides an accurate measurement of bone density via a painless six-minute procedure. These tests are typically covered by Medicare and most insurance.
The Woman’s Center attempts to keep preventive care within financial reach of all women. If you do not have health insurance, call the outpatient office at 765-452-0808, extension 30, for information about the free Mammography Program offered through the Community Howard Regional Health Foundation and other financial assistance programs.
