Thomas A. Malasto
CEO, Community Heart and Vascular
Thomas A. Malasto is the chief executive officer for Community Heart and Vascular. Previously, he served as the CEO and President of The Indiana Heart Hospital from April 2006 to January 2009.
His past experiences include serving as the executive director of the St. Francis Heart Center from 2002 - 2006. Additional work history includes a consulting position with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Indianapolis (2000-2002) and director/chief operating officer and chief compliance officer with The Care Group, LLC, in Indianapolis (1993-2001). Mr. Malasto began his career with Ernst & Young in Indianapolis.
He received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and received his CPA designation in 1989. Mr. Malasto’s professional affiliations include the American College of Cardiovascular Administrators, Healthcare Financial Management Association and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves on the American Heart Association’s Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Directors.
Bea Zakrowski, CPA
Director of Finance, Community Heart and Vascular
Bea Zakrowski is the director of finance for Community Heart and Vascular. She is a key member of the hospital management team providing financial leadership and support focusing on achieving financial targets; preparing forecasts; analyzing existing and proposed programs; and responsible for all financial reporting and financial needs of the hospital.
She brings more than 15 years of experience in medical group management with a focus on improving the financial performance of the organization. She served as the chief financial officer of St. Francis Medical Group from July 2009 to January 2012. Prior to St. Francis, she was the chief financial officer of Indiana Heart Physicians from June 2003 to July 2009. Additional work history includes chief financial officer for Radiologic Specialists of Indiana (1997-2003). She also spent seven years in public accounting, including manager within Ernst & Young’s medical services division.
Bea received her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Indiana University. She also has served on the Board, as Treasurer, of Indiana Medical Group Management Association (IMGMA).
Pamela Hunt, MSN, R.N.
Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President of Patient Care Services, The Indiana Heart Hospital
Pamela Hunt, MSN, R.N., is the chief nursing executive and vice president of patient care services at The Indiana Heart Hospital. Pam is responsible for all nursing and non-nursing operations at the hospital.
Hunt earned her master of science degree in nursing from Indiana University, her bachelor of science in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan and a diploma in nursing from Parkview-Methodist School of Nursing. She comes to The Indiana Heart Hospital from Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo, where she had served as chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services since August 2008. In that role, she supervised operations for the patient care division of an acute care hospital and was responsible for the delivery of quality, patient-centered care throughout the facility. Hunt’s career experience also includes serving as administrative director of perioperative services and the division of critical care and magnet program director at Marion General Hospital, where she began her career as a registered nurse.
Hunt has been published on a variety of nurse management topics and is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the VHA Chief Nursing Officer Group and the Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives. She is a frequent presenter at area and national conferences and volunteers her time serving local community organizations, including the Chief Nursing Officer Advisory Board of Indiana University Kokomo.
Director of Human Resources, Community Heart and Vascular
Matt McKim is the director of human resources for Community Heart and Vascular, where he is responsible for leading the HR operational oversight and execution. Matt provides counsel and direction to leadership teams, ensuring best practices are implemented and leveraged.
Matt brings ten years of strategic human resources experience to the organization, with a work history that includes both leadership and consulting positions. Prior to joining Community Heart and Vascular, Matt provided HR consultation for Indiana University Health.
McKim has a Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, and an MBA from the University of Central Florida. He has been a guest lecturer at the IU School of Medicine and the Kelley School of Business. Additionally, Matt serves on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Hamilton County.
