Karen Ann P. Lloyd is vice president of legal affairs and general counsel of Community Health Network, the second largest health care network in Indiana. She has held this position since September 2004.
Lloyd is responsible for the legal affairs of Community Health Network and the compliance/internal audit, community benefit and legislative affairs departments report to her. She also serves on Community’s CEO Council, which is responsible for ensuring implementation of the network’s strategic plan.
Prior to joining Community Health Network, Lloyd spent 10 years with the Indianapolis-based law firm Ice Miller, serving as partner and of counsel. She was senior associate in the health department of Epstein Becker & Green in Washington, DC, for two years. She also served as general counsel and senior health policy analyst for the Prospective Payment Assessment Commission (now the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission), and was on the professional staff of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health.
Lloyd is a member of the American Bar Association, where she served as the vice chair of its Payment & Reimbursement Interest Group, American Health Lawyers Association and the bar associations of the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana and Indianapolis, for which she previously chaired the health care section. Lloyd has published a number of articles on health care law, and in 2004 the Indianapolis Business Journal named her to its “Who’s Who Behind the Scenes in Health Care.”
Lloyd serves on the Boards of Directors of Indiana Black Expo, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and the Indianapolis Zoological Society.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Indiana University, where she also took graduate coursework in health system administration through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She earned a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington.
