Pickleball

Come check out our newest sport! Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines tennis, badminton and table tennis all into one great game.

Pickleball will be played on the basketball court on the following days:

Aquatics

The Community Healthplex aquatic facility features a therapy pool and a 25-yard, six-lane lap pool. Our highly-trained aquatics team includes Indianapolis’ most knowledgeable and renowned aquatics experts. At Community Healthplex, we offer a variety of aquatics programs for all ages. We provide convenient hours and certified swim staff.

Community Healthplex aquatic personal trainers are degreed, certified fitness experts committed to providing you with one-on-one instruction, personalized training plans and the extra motivation you need so you can get the most out of your workout. Our aquatic personal trainers will help you exercise safely and efficiently, set personal fitness goals, and track your progress.

Whether you are a competitive athlete, mild sports enthusiast, or a post-rehabilitation patient, your aquatic personal trainer will design a program that's best for you.

Masters Swim Team

This adult aquatic fitness program is open to triathletes, competitive swimmers and fitness swimmers. It is directed by a coach on deck who provides expert advice in training technique, stroke mechanics and goal setting. Healthplex is a registered US Masters Swimming Site. You may start at any time.

*Wednesday is not coached, however, planned practice will be available.

Underwater Video Taping

Need to work on your technique? Want to know what your stroke looks like underwater? Try our technique clinic that includes underwater videotaping! We will videotape you above and below and give you feedback on how to become more efficient with your strokes. Are you registered with USMS or USAT? Scouts

Is your child in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or Brownies? Bring your scouts to Community Healthplex to earn their aquatics badges. Call the Aquatics department at 317-920-7416 to set up days and times. Please be prepared to identify which badges you are working toward. A minimum of five scouts is requested.

Youth Basketball

Check out our newest basketball program with Mike Busby! Mike began playing basketball at a young age, and continued playing through college. His senior year of high school at Kalamazoo Central High School his team was ranked as high as number three in the state. He attended Lake Michigan College in St. Joseph and in 2005, helped lead the team to a regional championship. Mike has been training and giving personal basketball lessons since 2008. He has been working at Community Healthplex since 2013 at the Guest Services Desk and has expanded his basketball career to offer private and semi-private lessons as well as clinics.

Pickup Games

Basketball pickup games are available for our members. Our facility is regarded so highly the Indiana Pacers called our sports club home to their practices while Conseco Fieldhouse was under construction. More recently, the American Basketball Association’s Indiana Legends called our practice facility home. Today, Community Healthplex provides facilities for the up-and-coming stars in our community. With two adjustable basketball goals, even the youngest of players can enjoy our facility.

Fitness Appointments

All Community Healthplex members have the opportunity to receive three (3) complimentary sessions with one of our fitness staff. You do not have to participate in all the free sessions; however, to receive the most benefit we advise that you take advantage of all three sessions.

Consultation and fitness assessment

Members receive a 60-minute, complimentary, one-on-one consultation and fitness assessment with one of our degreed personal trainers. In this consultation session, you and a personal trainer will discuss your health history and help you set realistic and attainable fitness goals. Our trainers will also provide you with ideas and a plan to help you reach your goals. 

The fitness assessment establishes the baseline data of your fitness level. This part of the session includes measurements of cardiovascular health, heart rate, blood pressure, target heart rate, body composition, body measurements, flexibility, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. In the fitness assessment our personal trainers will review your results with you and help identify your strengths and weaknesses. Based on your health history and fitness assessment results the personal trainer will provide ideas on how to best improve your health and fitness level.

It is recommended that Healthplex members participate in a fitness assessment every six months to track their progress and fitness levels.

Equipment orientation

Members can participate in a complimentary equipment orientation with the fitness staff. You will learn the basics of starting an exercise program and how to use the strength training and cardiovascular equipment. This appointment will inform you about what muscles the machine uses and how the machine works. The fitness staff member will also go over proper form while using the machine and help you find a good starting lifting weight. This is the first of your complimentary sessions. 

One-on-one session

You can also receive a complimentary, 30-minute, one-on-one session with one of our degreed personal trainers. Based on your health history, fitness assessment, and goals the personal trainer will design a session specifically for you to help you receive the most out of your workout. The personal trainer will take you through a workout designed to help you reach your goals. Your one-on-one session will be scheduled after you complete your fitness assessment and consultation.

Policies

It is the policy of Community Healthplex to have a completed PAR-Q on file and in some cases to obtain a medical clearance when necessary from each member’s primary care physician before beginning any fitness assessment. There is a $25 no-show fee charged to any member who does not follow the fitness assessment cancellation policy. For more information, please contact the fitness department at 317-957-9464.

New and Improved! Boot camp

Join us for our NEW and IMPROVED Boot Camp class! Classes will integrate strength and cardio exercises into a high intensity workout. Get ready to break a sweat!

Boot camp is a combination of strength, muscular and cardiovascular endurance, core stability and mobility through functional movement patterns. This class is programmed to provide a total body workout through its course, while specifically targeting various muscle groups during each workout.

Group Fitness

Do you enjoy working out in a group setting? Community Healthplex offers a variety of formats to suit everyone’s needs. All of our instructors are experienced and certified professionals who will help motivate you and help you reach your fitness goals.

With over 50 free classes per week, there is a class for everyone. Our convenient class times make getting in shape fun and easy. We offer all of the most popular group fitness classes that you are sure to enjoy. If you are new to group fitness classes or if you have any previous injuries or contraindications, we recommend you come to class early and let the instructor know.

Long-term programs

Meet with a trainer to discuss your specific fitness goals and any special concerns. Your trainer will map out a safe and effective exercise prescription designed to meet your goals. Pilates classes

Pilates Reformer is strength training on the Allegro Reformer machine. This type of training can change the shape of your body and work each muscle group while maintaining core control. Benefits of Pilates Reformer include increased core strength sculpted legs, buns and arms, lean muscle around the shoulders and improved body awareness and posture.

Beginner Pilates Reformer is for participants who are newer to the Pilates Reformer and are still learning the machine. This class is also recommended for participants who have special conditions and/or injuries. Participants will receive a total body workout. All fitness levels can benefit from this class.

We offer two full-size racquetball courts. The Community Healthplex also boasts a full slate of competitive leagues and games fit for any level of competitor. Due to the competitive nature and desire to get on the courts, we recommend all members either call for a reservation, and/or join one of our many competitive leagues.

Exercise classes

Arthritis - An Arthritis Foundation certified class using stretching, movement and light weight bearing exercises to assist with active daily living movements. This class can be done sitting or standing.

Seniorcize - This class focuses on all aspects of fitness. It combines light dance choreography to get you stepping, floor work that will get your heart pumping, and some light strength training work that will help increase muscular strength as well as bone density to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Low impact class for a senior beginning to exercise. Free to members.

F.I.T. / 50 - Fit over 50 is a class similar to “Seniorcize” but a little more advanced. Designed specifically for the adult over 50, this class combines exciting dance choreography with toning and stretching for an all-around great workout! Free to members.

Senior Stretch - Stretching promotes muscular balance, reduces tension, increases range of motion, and helps prevent injury.

Water fitness

A low-intensity class that gives participants stretching, range of motion, flexibility and balance. This class includes 10-15 minutes of light intensity cardiovascular work that aids in keeping joints moving and helps accomplish daily functions of life. This class is designed for those with arthritis, fibromyalgia or other autoimmune diseases, syndromes, or physical injuries that affect their ability to perform functions of daily living without pain and/or decreased range of motion and flexibility. All of our instructors are certified through the Arthritis Foundation.

All water exercise classes are included in your Community Healthplex membership. Classes are on-going; there are no sessions. Guest participation is available for a fee of $7 per class or a 10-class pass for $50. This pass is good for 6 months or 10 classes, whichever comes first.

Adult group swim lessons

These classes are geared toward teens and adults that are just learning how to swim or are ready for the next level, including learning the strokes. Students will progress at their own rate while learning new skills and refining their existing skills. In the Level I/Beginners class, only basics will be covered. The Intermediate Stroke Improvement level is for those swimmers ready for work on their form.

Training and certification

American Red Cross lifeguard training

Member: $150

Candidates learn how to respond to water-related emergencies by developing surveillance skills to recognize and prevent emergencies, water rescue, spinal-injury management, and post-rescue care. It includes first aid, AED and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. You must be 15 years of age by the completion of the course.

Attendance for both class dates is required for completion of certification. Days may run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You must complete the online section of certification before coming to class. There is a $35 registration fee with the Red Cross that is also required to cover the online portion. For more information about upcoming class dates, contact the Aquatic Department at 317-957-9434.

    Water safety instructor

    Learn how to be a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. We cover how to teach different populations, stroke development, and the principles of water. Attendance at all 4 classes is required. For more information, contact the Aquatic Department at 317-957-9434.

    Community Healthplex offers some of the finest tennis programming facilities and staff in the region. Tennis facilities include six indoor courts and three outdoor courts. We offer an experienced group of tennis professionals to help you develop a winning game.

    Adult Group Clinics

    We offer a wide variety of tennis clinics for beginners to tournament-level players, including men's, women's and seniors clinics. Tennis clinics are a great way to improve your tennis skills and meet new playing partners. Our tennis clinics are one and a half hours of fun, fast-paced drills. All clinics must have at least three players or the class will be cancelled.

    Clinic participants must sign up for at least three classes or the following individual pay per play rates will apply: Member: $25; Guest: $30.

    Package of 3 Clinics: M: $60, NM: $75
    Package of 4 Clinics: M: $80, NM: $100
    Package of 5 Clinics: M: $100, NM: $125
    Package of 6 Clinics: M: $120, NM: $150
    All packages expire one year from date of purchase.

    Adult Tennis Clinic Schedule

    There are no refunds or credits on any missed tennis clinics, however, we will give a make-up clinic in a different class if there are spots available. All make-up clinics must be taken within the six-week clinic session. Please contact your tennis professional directly to set up your make-up clinic.

    Adult High-Intensity Clinic

    This clinic is designed to provide a high-intensity workout. The drills are structured to allow players to hit tennis balls, run, jump and burn plenty of calories. Participants must be in good shape. Admittance to the class is determined by the tennis professional. Sign-up is on a weekly basis.

    Member: $30; Guest: $40

    • Saturdays, 2 to 4 p.m.
    • Levels 3.5 to 4.0; a minimum of eight players per session

    Adult Tennis League

    The club offers men’s and women’s leagues throughout the year. All leagues are limited in size and are for members only.

    Grand Slam Singles Ladder

    This is a singles round robin league format for men and women of all levels. This program is designed for competitive singles play. The league fee is $20.

    Junior Tennis Programs

    At Community Healthplex we believe that the tournament level player has the greatest advantage when there is a low student-to-instructor ratio. Our tennis classes allow students of any age to participate in a fun tennis learning experience.     Junior Tennis Academy

    In the academy, we welcome any tournament level players to participate in a fun learning experience. Academy classes include high-intensity drilling, coaching, competitive match play and fitness. To register, please contact Blake Crowther at 317-957-9447 or Earl Allen at 317-9446. We will be glad to assist in any way. Admittance to the academy is solely up to the tennis professionals.

    Participants may sign up on a weekly basis. All academy classes are pay by the week (Monday - Friday). Cost is $150 for members and $225 for non-members.

    Junior Tennis Clinics

    We offer a wide variety of junior tennis clinics for beginners to advanced level players. use the most current teaching methodologies to help young players progress through the Jr. Tennis Pathway, from Red Ball to Yellow Ball. We offer classes that welcome students of any age and skill level to participate in a fun tennis learning environment while they work to improve.     Students must enroll for the entire session. Please see schedule below for pricing for different age groups.

    Private Tennis Lessons

    Looking to improve your game? Try private lessons. One-on-one instruction is most beneficial for working on the specifics of your game. Choose from individual or group lessons provided by our tennis professionals.

    Cancellations: All sessions must be cancelled at least twelve (12) hours in advance from the scheduled time or the client will be billed in full.

    Tennis Lesson Options & Rates

    Court Reservations

    Members can either “walk-on” a court without a reservation and not pay a fee, or they can make a reservation and ensure there is a court available for a nominal charge. Members can reserve a court for up to 1-1/2 hours but may play longer if the court is available.

    Please call the front desk at 317-957-9430 during club hours to reserve a tennis court.

    • It is strongly recommended that members make a reservation to ensure court availability.
    • “Walk-on” reservations have a one hour window. (Members must reserve a court no sooner than 4 p.m. if they want to play at 5 p.m.)
    • Today and tomorrow reservations: $3
    • Three- to five-day advance reservations: $6
    • Members may use any open court until the reserving party takes possession.
    • At that time, members and guests are asked to courteously yield the court to the reserving party.
    Yoga

    Yoga classes

    Align & Flow: Discover the age old secret to health and vitality with this incredible mind/body workout. Increase strength and flexibility with a smooth yoga class that will incorporate all the traditional benefits of yoga. All fitness levels welcome, however this is a moderate to intense level class.

    Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa is a method of yoga in which movements are synchronized with the breath. The practice flows through a progressive series of postures with a special breathing technique that warms the body building beneficial heat that detoxifies muscles and organs and leaves those who practice feeling both relaxed and energized at the end of the class.

    Yoga Fit: Yoga Fit is based on Hatha Yoga principles blending balance, strength, flexibility and power. Join us for a class that combines fitness moves with traditional yoga postures linked together in a flowing format to help improve strength. All levels welcome.

    Private yoga lessons

    Private yoga lessons are an excellent way for new students to learn yoga in a non-intimidating environment that customizes yoga to the needs of the individual. Private yoga lessons are also available for more experienced students to refine their skills and gain access to advanced practices that may lead to great physical and energetic shifts. Private yoga lessons can be used to address concerns such as injuries, therapeutics, energy balancing, and can even be used to transform bad habits, including postural misalignments and behavioral patterns.
