INDIANAPOLIS – Community Health Network has named Kelly Barton vice president and chief operations officer of the network’s North Region.
Barton will begin her new role July 18 and has more than 15 years of healthcare experience. She most recently served as vice president of clinical operations for Gundersen Lutheran Health System based in La Crosse, Wisc.
In her new role, Barton will be responsible for providing strategic growth planning, execution and operational leadership to designated product lines, patient and support services in the North Region.
“For nearly two decades, Kelly has built an impressive track record of strategic, operational and patient-centered accomplishments,” said Kathy Krusie, president of Community’s North Region. “Kelly’s warm, engaging style is exactly what Community needs as we enter our next chapter. Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable in helping to enhance our organizational performance, and I am pleased to have her on our team.”
During her 15-year tenure at Gundersen, she led initiatives to increase their ranking of the heart and orthopedic programs to the top 50 in the nation, spearheaded the design and implementation of behavioral health into the primary care model of care, and collaborated with the local YMCA to create a healthy living center.
Barton’s previous leadership responsibilities at Gundersen also included oversight of the Center for Cancer and Blood disorders, Center for Breast Care, at home and palliative services, hospice, and infusion and IV therapy.
She holds a master’s of public health degree from the University of Minnesota. Additionally, she completed the Administrative Fellowship Program of the Advisory Board.
