Anita Capps named Community Hospital South chief nursing executive

INDIANAPOLIS – Community Health Network announced today that Anita Capps, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., will begin working as the chief nursing executive of Community Hospital South, effective April 18.

In this role, Capps will oversee Community South’s nursing services and operations. She will work with physician leaders, hospital leaders, product line leaders and the hospital nursing team to enhance clinical performance in the areas of service, quality and safety, growth, finance, and the patient experience.

“Anita is a results-driven professional whose collaborative leadership style has allowed her to create strong clinical leadership teams that focus on safety, quality and the patient experience,” said Tony Lennen, Community South Region president.

Capps brings more than 17 years of nursing, clinical and healthcare administration leadership experience to her role at Community South. She has nursing experience in surgical, medical, oncology and emergency services.

In her previous role, Capps served as vice president and chief nursing executive for a 421-bed hospital in Ocala, Fla., where she implemented best practices for patient safety and enhanced the hospital’s commitment to provide quality patient care. She also led efforts to improve patient, employee and physician satisfaction.

Capps earned an associate degree in nursing from Indiana State University and completed her bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in management at Indiana Wesleyan University.
