Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network has named Michael Shrift, M.D., MBA, as chief medical information officer to lead the ongoing development and optimization of clinical systems and technology that impact patient care and network business operations. Dr. Shrift will also be a practicing physician for Community in the area of consultation liaison psychiatry.
“Dr. Shrift will serve as a liaison between Community Health Network’s clinical operations and its knowledge management division,” said Tim Hobbs, M.D., chief physician executive for Community Health Network. “He will be responsible for physician engagement and adoption of clinical systems.”
Dr. Shrift previously served at Cleveland Clinic, where he was associate chief medical information officer. Prior to that position, he was vice president for clinical knowledge management and chief medical information officer for Allina Hospital and Clinics in Minnesota. He also previously held positions with Centura Health, ChoiceHealth and the Denver Medical Center.
Dr. Shrift earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center and served as an intern, resident and chief resident at the University of Colorado. He is board certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His MBA is from the University of Denver’s Bill Daniels College of Business, and he earned his undergraduate degree in human biology from Stanford University. Among other affiliations, Dr. Shrift is a member of the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems and the affiliate faculty of the University of Minnesota’s Institute for Healthcare Informatics.
