Fairbanks integrates with Community Health Network to become Community Fairbanks Recovery Center

For release on July 19, 2021

INDIANAPOLIS, IN—Community Health Network announces the next phase of the integration of Fairbanks, one of the oldest and largest substance-use treatment programs in the state, with the renaming of the facility as Community Fairbanks Recovery Center. The 76-year-old organization will continue to provide a full continuum of substance-use treatment programs at its current location on the campus of Community North at 8102 Clearvista Parkway, Indianapolis.

In addition, several of Community Fairbanks Recovery Center programs will operate under new names. The long-term residential program formerly known as La Verna Lodge will become Community Fairbanks Recovery Lodge. The First Step Supportive Living program will be known as Community Fairbanks Recovery Housing and the existing recovery management program will be Community Fairbanks Recovery Management.

The new names are the result of an ongoing integration process that began more than a year ago when Fairbanks became part of Community Health Network. “In talking with audiences throughout the state, both names, Community and Fairbanks, shared strong reputations for high quality and reputable service,” says George Hurd, vice president of Community Behavioral Health. “Creating Community Fairbanks Recovery Center brings two of the best-known names together at a time when the need for awareness about substance-use treatment and recovery has never been greater.”

As Fairbanks, Community Fairbanks Recovery Center has been on the forefront of substance-use treatment since its founding in 1945. The organization was the first full service substance-use program. It was the first treatment facility for alcohol abuse in the state of Indiana, was the first non-profit hospital in Indianapolis focused on addiction treatment, introduced the first treatment program for women in 1970, and opened the first full service adolescent treatment program in 1980.
