Reba McEntire helps raise money for Community Health Network cancer patients

For release on February 15, 2019

Indianapolis, IN –The total has been added up for Community Health Network Foundation’s “The Giving Gig” 2019. The event helped raise more than $2.19 million for the Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, which helps cancer patients in financial need access healthy food, transportation to treatment, life-saving medicine, and more.

More than one thousand Central Indiana donors gathered at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown for the annual fundraiser, which was presented by Alderson Commercial Group. Guests had an opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items to help support the fund.

Reba McEntire was there to perform for the crowd, but she surprised the guests by providing her own unique auction items, including an autographed guitar. Later, during her concert, she auctioned off an opportunity for someone to join her on stage and sing-along with the country music star. The winner paid $9,000 for this unexpected experience.

Reba McEntire is a Country Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Bowl member. She has had a rare 35 number one singles and more than 56 million albums sold worldwide. Reba has won 15 American Music Awards, 14 ACM Awards, 9 People’s Choice Awards, 7 CMA Awards, and 2 Grammys.

Community Health Foundation is grateful for Reba’s support in helping cancer patients in Central Indiana. In 2018, The Giving Gig raised $1.9 million in support of the Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, with $1.7 million raised in 2017, $1.4 million raised in 2016, $1.2 million in 2015 and $825,000 in 2014.
