First and only healthcare system in Indiana to utilize text-based recruiting platform, tripling candidate reach

Indianapolis—Community Health Network has a new tool in the competitive healthcare job market. The Indianapolis-based healthcare system is partnering with Canvas, the first enterprise-grade text-based interviewing platform, to reach qualified candidates faster and easier.

“In this competitive market, speed is key to reaching the best candidates first,” said Nancy Foster, Vice President of Talent Acquisition and Organizational Effectiveness for Community Health Network. “Canvas allows us to reach multiple candidates at once. As a result, our candidate reach has tripled.”

By utilizing a text-based recruiting platform, Community can communicate with candidates in real-time. With an average response time of 90 seconds, Community recruiters can screen candidates faster and present them to hiring managers within hours of a job opening. The result is lower candidate processing times and faster fill rates. It eliminates administrative work created in the recruitment process since resumes, interview schedules, onboarding forms and reminder notifications can now be sent with the touch of a button.

“Canvas allows us to bridge the gap between traditional recruiting methods, like email and phone calls, and digital, on-demand communication,” said Foster. “That’s especially helpful in the recruitment of nurses who are always on the go. The faster we find the best candidate, the more focused we can be on patient care.”

The first and only healthcare system in Indiana to utilize a text-based recruiting platform, Community began using Canvas in May 2018. Since then, Community recruiters have contacted nearly 2,000 applicants with an 83 percent response rate, influencing more than 50 hires including nurses and behavioral health specialists.
