A new trend in breast cancer care: full-service evening hours; Community Breast Care to offer innovative approach to care at its east side location

For release on June 07, 2011

Indianapolis, IN---Community Breast Care, the integrated and nationally accredited breast health centers of Community Health Network, will now offer an innovative approach to providing breast cancer services. A first in the Indianapolis healthcare market, busy, working women will now be able to access full-service evening hour appointments at its Community Hospital East location, beginning June 8. Full-service evening hours will be available every second and fourth Wednesday of each month.

Any patient who schedules an appointment in the evening will have the same access to services and physician specialists as a patient who schedules an appointment during normal business hours. This includes access to screening mammography and diagnostic imaging, image-guided biopsy, medical, surgical and radiation oncology consultation, and genetic testing.

“Our new evening hours program will revolutionize the way women access healthcare, said breast surgeon Robert J. Goulet, Jr., M.D., FACS. “We will be able to fully address the breast health needs of working women in Indiana, when it’s convenient for them.” Dr. Goulet went on to say, “For example, many women who discover a lump in their breast don’t have the luxury of taking time off during the day to have it examined. Now, highly skilled physician specialists can accommodate patients’ schedules during evening hours to make sure they get the attention they need.”

Community Breast Care is the first comprehensive breast health center in Central Indiana to offer such extensive services in the evening. These appointments are available the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. On these days, hours will be from noon to 8 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, patients can call 317-355-2727.

Community Breast Care is the first and only comprehensive health network in the state of Indiana to be granted a three-year, full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). NAPBC-accredited breast care centers offer a multidisciplinary, team approach to treatment of breast disease, comprehensive care with state-of-the-art equipment, breast health navigators, information about clinical trials and new treatment options, and access to prevention and support services.
