Community Physician Network announces cardiovascular genetic counseling team

Indianapolis, IN---Community Physician Network welcomes a medical geneticist and genetic counselor at the recently-launched cardiovascular genetic counseling center at The Indiana Heart Hospital. Glenn Bingle, M.D., Ph.D., FACP, and Renee Jones, senior genetic counselor, bring experience and compassion to their new roles within Community Health Network.

Glenn Bingle, M.D., PhD., FACP, serves as medical director of the Cardiovascular Genetic Counseling Center of Excellence. He counsels patients and consults with their providers to develop an individualized care plan. Dr. Bingle has practiced clinical genetics and internal medicine for more than 40 years. His broad clinical experiences include serving as chief medical officer for Community Health Network for 19 years, and supervising the Center for Genetic Counseling at Community Health Network for 35 years. Most recently, Dr. Bingle has served as chairman of the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety, a nonprofit forum where leaders of area hospitals work together to solve patient safety issues. Dr. Bingle has held academic positions at Indiana University School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University and the University of Michigan. He has numerous scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. His research focused on the hereditary factors contributing to cardiovascular disease. During his extensive career, Dr. Bingle has been recognized with many community and medical honors and awards for his leadership and contributions to medicine, genetics and the Indianapolis community. For example, he served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Pan American Games in 1987. He received his medical degree from Indiana University and his doctorate in medical genetics from Indiana University.

Renee Jones is a board-certified genetic counselor specially trained in medical genetics, genomics and hereditary cardiac diseases. She has worked at Community Health Network for more than seven years. Jones evaluates genetic tests and provides psychosocial counseling to patients at the cardiovascular genetic counseling center. She holds a bachelor of science degree in microbiology from the University of Massachusetts and master of science degree in molecular and medical genetics from Indiana University. She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and president of the Indiana Network of Genetic Counselors.
