Community Health Pavilion Washington to officially open on the east side of Indianapolis

For release on May 03, 2012

Indianapolis, IN---On May 7,Community Health Network officially opens a $12 million medical pavilion at I-465 and Washington Street that will improve healthcare access and support economic development on Indianapolis’ east side. Community Health Pavilion Washington, located on six acres at 7910 East Washington Street, is a three-story facility with a variety of health services in 55,000 square feet of space.

The building is expected to create about 50 new jobs in the area.

The new pavilion currently offers Community Imaging Center; Community Rehab and Sports Medicine Center; and Community MedCheck, which has relocated from its former Post Road location. Community MedCheck provides affordable medical care for non-emergency adult and child injuries and illnesses at a lower cost than that of an emergency room visit. Open seven days a week, some services provided include sports physicals and treatment for asthma, fractures, sprains and flu symptoms. No appointment is necessary.

“Community Health Network has provided exceptional healthcare to the people of the east side for decades,” said Jon Fohrer, CEO of ambulatory services at Community. “The addition of this health pavilion will allow us to expand our services and improve healthcare access with the convenience of multiple services at a single location.”

Later this year, the pavilion will also be the home to family medicine and specialty practices of Community Physician Network; Mid America Clinical Labs; and the Laughner Community Room. The community room was named for the Laughner family, whose cafeteria resided on the land for generations. The room will be used for community health classes and screenings.

“The Community Health Pavilion Washington will be a medical home for our patients,” said Robin Ledyard, M.D., president of Community Hospital East. “We are committed to serving the families and neighborhoods on the east side with quality healthcare.”

The developer for the project is Alderson Commercial Group, Inc. Groundbreaking on the new facility occurred last May. A grand opening event, which will allow the community to meet physicians, is planned for late 2012.
