Community Health Network names vice president of patient experience

For release on March 06, 2014

Indianapolis, IN---Julie O’Toole has been named vice president of patient experience—access and service—for Community Health Network. She takes on this role in the newly-created Office of Patient Experience.

O’Toole has worked at Community for six years, improving patient access to care in her role as director of practice excellence at Community Physician Network. She will continue that work, while broadening her focus to enhance access network-wide.

“Julie’s work has already made a tremendous impact on the patient and customer experience at Community,” said Tom Malasto, chief patient experience officer. “For example, thanks to her efforts, it’s now faster and easier than ever for new patients to schedule an appointment with a Community physician. Julie also was instrumental in helping our physicians adopt new electronic medical records technology that’s improving quality, safety and convenience for our patients. Her opportunities to boost the patient, family and guest experience will be even greater in her new role.”

O’Toole began her career as a manager of patient access in a large multi-specialty group, soon expanding her scope to director of support services, responsible for central switchboard, patient access, medical records, and transcription.   Throughout her 20+ years in healthcare, she has provided leadership to many clinical areas as a practice administrator, and director of laboratory, pharmacy, and quality.   She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in organizational leadership, and has extensive project management experience that includes implementation of central contact center solutions, electronic medical records and practice management software, and various access and workflow efficiency tools.
