Community Health Network names Jean Putnam network chief nursing officer
INDIANAPOLIS – Community Health Network announced today that Jean Putnam, R.N., MS, CPHQ, has been named the network’s chief nursing officer, effective immediately. Putnam has served in the role on an interim basis since March 2015.
Putnam joined Community Health Network in 2011 as vice president for quality resources and risk management and has worked for more than two years as the chief clinical quality officer.
“Jean is a tireless supporter of nurses as employees and the largest segment of our team,” said Dr. Tim Hobbs, M.D., MBA, chief physician executive for Community Health Network. “But just as important, she’s an advocate for nurses as talented professionals whose knowledge and creativity are essential to our success and to our patients’ experiences and outcomes. As we considered our vision of the network chief nursing officer for the future, we found Jean’s background to be ideal.”
As interim chief nursing officer, Putnam moved forward Community’s important work in engaging nurses in governance and creating new ways to give nurses a voice in care transformation. Putnam also furthered the network’s efforts to support nursing education, both to welcome future nurses into the industry and to help expand the skills of those already working as caregivers.
“The role of the chief nursing officer has evolved in recent years into a role focused not only on overseeing the nursing workforce but also on giving nursing professionals a voice in care transformation and quality improvement,” said Putnam. “We are particularly focused on team-based care where all clinical services are partners in delivering exceptional care. It has been rewarding for me to carry that responsibility in an interim capacity over the past several months and I am thrilled to know it is my responsibility going forward here at Community Health Network.”
