Indianapolis, IN—In an effort to increase convenience and access to health care beyond traditional medical office hours, Community Health Network MedCheck walk-in care centers will offer expanded hours, beginning July 18. Five of the six MedCheck locations in the Central Indiana area will be open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week, while the MedCheck Castleton location will be open 24 hours every day.
“Expanding MedCheck hours at all of our locations is consistent with the network’s commitment to increase health care access to patients we serve in the greater Indianapolis area,” said Jon Fohrer, CEO of ambulatory services at Community Health Network. “The expanded hours provide patients an opportunity to receive primary or urgent care when they need it, while reducing overall health care costs for services provided.”
When patients visit a MedCheck office, the co-pay is usually the same as a doctor’s office visit—and care is provided at a much lower cost than presenting at an emergency room. For this reason, utilization of the walk-in care centers can dramatically reduce health care costs.
MedCheck walk-in care centers are equipped to treat a variety of adult and child injuries and illnesses, as well as provide various tests, therapies and screenings. Some of the services include: asthma treatments, broken bone diagnosis and care, cold and flu care, eye injury care, free blood pressure readings, STD checks, treatment of strains and sprains, X-rays, lab tests, immunizations and allergy shots, work-related injury treatment and screenings, sore throat and strep throat diagnosis and treatment, school or sports physicals, and antibiotic and IV therapy.
“A patient’s time is valuable and we understand that illnesses and injuries don’t always happen during normal business hours,” said Linda Erwin, director of MedChecks. “Now, with our expanded hours, we will continue to offer quality, low-cost care to Central Indiana residents at a variety of locations that are convenient and close to home.”
Patients can speed up the registration process before arriving at a MedCheck for urgent care by scheduling an appointment online through MedCheck WebAhead. The free service, available by visiting www.MedCheckWebAhead.com via any computer with Internet connection, mobile device or smartphone, allows patients to find a MedCheck location and appointment time that’s convenient for them. Appointments can be securely scheduled 24 hours in advance. This application, developed by Community’s eBusiness team, is similar to the restaurant industry’s call ahead seating service and is available at all MedCheck locations.
