Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network is partnering with Inside Indiana Business, Ivy Tech Community College and Binford Redevelopment and Growth (BRAG) for a town hall, Changes in Health Care, in an effort to engage the Indianapolis community in dialogue about the changing health care landscape. The town hall will be held March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College, Lawrence Campus, 9301 East 59th Street, in Indianapolis. The event is open to the public, but participants are encouraged to register online at www.eCommunity.com.
The town hall, moderated by Inside Indiana Business host Gerry Dick, will focus on how new laws and innovations will change the way health care is accessed; how providers will look at ways to keep patients healthy; how the community can take a more active role in wellness and prevention; and what these changes mean for future careers in health care. Panelists include: Bryan Mills, president and CEO, Community Health Network; Dr. David Lee, vice president, provider engagement and contracting, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana; Dr. Kathleen Lee, vice chancellor of academic affairs, Ivy Tech; Dr. Virginia Caine, director, Marion County Public Health Department; Mayor Paul Ricketts, City of Lawrence; and Jane Lommel, president, Binford Redevelopment and Growth.
“We know that health care is a complex issue, especially with many changes on the horizon as a result of the federal health care law,” said Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network. “Hosting a town hall presents a great opportunity for the public to learn more about how these changes will impact their personal health decisions and gain insight from leaders across a wide spectrum of the community. “
The March town hall is the first in a series of town halls planned by Community Health Network and Inside Indiana Business in 2011. The goal is to educate the public about health care changes on the way. Each town hall will feature perspectives from local universities, health insurers, health providers, public health agencies, neighborhood groups, businesses and community leaders.
