For release on August 11, 2011

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network is partnering with Westview Medical Campus and Marian University to host a town hall on Changes in Health Care. The event, open to the public, is the third in the network’s town hall series aimed at fostering a dialogue with the Indianapolis community about the current and changing health care landscape. The town hall will be held Wednesday, August 24, at 7 p.m. in Marian University’s Marian Hall Theatre (previously the Civic Theatre), located at 3200 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis. Free health screenings will be offered in conjunction with the event, beginning at 6 p.m.

The town hall will be moderated by Inside Indiana Business host Gerry Dick. Panelists for the town hall include: Bryan Mills, president and CEO, Community Health Network; Jon Anderson, president and CEO, Westview Medical Campus; Robert W. Hillman, president and general manager, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana, and Dr. Paul Evans, dean of Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The partners for this event, Community and Westview, recently announced a formal affiliation agreement. Both organizations also have shared interest in Marian University’s future College of Osteopathic Medicine, which will be the state’s second medical school when built. It is expected to be a pipeline for future primary care physicians.

“Our first two town hall events this year were very successful in creating candid and educational dialogue with the community,” said Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network. “Our goal is to continue the education, as well as answer some challenging questions on the upcoming changes in health care. With the knowledgeable mix of panelists we have, we expect the event to be a valuable conversation for the public,” Mills said.

Topics of discussion will cover the impact of new federal regulations on the consumer; how community members can take a more proactive role in wellness and prevention; how new laws and regulations will change access to health care; the future of careers in health care; the healthcare provider perspective on these changes; and how the insurance industry will be impacted. Panelists will field questions from the audience. The event is open to the public; however, those planning to attend are encouraged to register online at townhall.eCommunity.com. Members of the public attending the event are asked to park at the Lake Sullivan Sports Complex (home of the Major Taylor Velodrome), 3649 Cold Spring Road, to be shuttled to the town hall, due to limited parking. A shuttle will return guests to the complex following the event.

Free health screenings will take place from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Medical professionals from Community and Westview, along with nursing students from Marian University, will be on hand to take basic health measurements, such as body mass index and blood pressure. In addition, one-on-one health consultations by physicians and nurse practitioners will be offered.

Community Health Network launched the Changes in Health Care town hall series March 8, with a town hall at the Ivy Tech Community College, Lawrence Campus. The second town hall was held May 24 at Martin University.
