Community Health Network is exclusive health care provider for S.P.O.R.T.S. athletes

For release on July 11, 2011

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network is now the exclusive health care provider for athletes participating in Southeastern Program of Recreational Team Sports (S.P.O.R.T.S.) through 2012. As part of a new agreement, Community will provide athletic trainers and physicians at key sporting events and clinical sports medicine coverage at games throughout the year. Community’s commitment also extends to the overall wellness of athletes and their families by providing multiple access sites of care throughout the neighborhoods of Fishers.

“We are excited to partner with the athletes and coaches of S.P.O.R.T.S,” said Jon Fohrer, CEO of the ambulatory division at Community Health Network. “In addition to our involvement at sporting events, we want to bring value-added programs such as CPR training for coaches and volunteers, student athlete heart risk screenings, impact/concussion screenings and sports physicals.  We believe these types of programs can improve athletic safety.”

The new partnership between Community Health Network and S.P.O.R.T.S builds upon Community’s strong presence in Fishers. Besides Community Hospital North and MedCheck walk-in care centers, Community Physicians of Indiana practices are located in Community Health Pavilions throughout the area.

“We are pleased to have Community Health Network as our health care provider,” remarked Lynda Carlino, executive director of S.P.O.R.T.S. “Our league members will benefit from the sports medical coverage and health and wellness activities throughout the year. As the town of Fishers grows, so will our organization, and we want to have Community’s expertise in prevention and wellness programs available to our athletes and their families.”
