Community Health Network announces new leadership positions, promotions

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network has announced the following leadership positions and promotions:

Wes Wong, M.D., has joined Community as the network’s first chief physician integration officer, following an extensive national search. Dr. Wong joins Community from Anthem, where he worked most recently as a regional vice president and national accounts medical director. His career highlights also include neurosciences and pain clinic medical directorships at St. Vincent. A neurologist by training, Dr. Wong earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, followed by an internship at St. Vincent in Indianapolis, a residency at IU School of Medicine, a fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia, and masters degree in medical management from Tulane University. He will provide physician leadership and direction for the network’s care integration initiatives.

Sue Sandberg has been promoted to executive vice president for the network. Her primary responsibilities include leading strategy development and execution for cardiovascular and pediatric services, in addition to strategy, execution and operations for Community Hospital North’s emergency department and surgical services. Sandberg has been employed by Community since 1998, most recently serving as a vice president of women’s and children’s services. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Minnesota State University and her master of business administration with a concentration in marketing from DePaul University, Chicago.

Deb Lyons, R.N., begins a new role at Community as the network’s integration disease management executive director. During her tenure at Community Hospital East, she had moved from clinical manager to director. Lyons will continue her work around standardization of handoffs that promote safer patient care and better communication between providers.

Jim O’Donnell also begins a new role as the network’s chief pharmacy officer. He will lead Community’s pharmacy team to become more integrated with the full continuum of care, to meet the needs of patients under health care reform. Currently working as pharmacy director at Community Hospital East, O’Donnell assumes his new position August 8.
