For release on May 13, 2013

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network Foundation, the not-for-profit organization that raises financial support for Community’s patients, caregivers and Central Indiana communities, announced three local high-school seniors have each been awarded a $3,000 It’s Our Community scholarship, which will help them earn a college healthcare degree.

This year’s recipients are:

·         Amanda Basham of Whiteland Community High School, studying pharmacy at Purdue University

·         Gabrielle Dunn of Bishop Chatard High School, studying to be a physician’s assistant at Butler University

·         Courtney Tanner of Fishers High School, studying nursing at Ball State University

“Our loyal donors who have kept our community at the front of their giving trends make this awesome opportunity for local high school students possible,” said Joyce Irwin, president of the Community Health Network Foundation. “We look forward to bright futures for all of our scholarship recipients and greatly enjoy being a part of educating now a decade of college students devoted to healthcare.”

Community’s It’s Our Community healthcare scholarship program began in 2004 as a way to develop Indiana’s health and life science workforce, by encouraging Indiana college students to earn a degree and seek long-term employment in Indiana. During the past 10 years, Community Health Network Foundation has funded $246,000 in It’s Our Community scholarships, awarded to 82 students.
