Community Physician Network welcomes new providers

Indianapolis, IN---Community Physician Network, the integrated, multi-specialty physician group at Community Health Network, welcomes the following providers:

Josephine A. Bongiovanni, M.D., is a board-certified internal medicine physician. Dr. Bongiovanni completed her medical degree at the University of Bologna Medical School in Italy. She completed a residency in nuclear medicine at Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Brooklyn, New York; a fellowship in nuclear medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York; and a residency in internal medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Bongiovanni’s office is located at 9669 E. 146th Street, Suite 200, Noblesville.

Thomas Howard, M.D., is a board-certified hepatobiliary specialist, managing and treating diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. He completed his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma and his surgical residency at the University of California in Los Angeles. Dr. Howard has been caring for patients in central Indiana for more than 20 years and is a recognized physician, leader and educator in gastrointestinal surgery and cancer care. His office is located at 8040 Clearvista Parkway, Suite 240, Indianapolis.

Carl Pafford, M.D., is a family medicine physician who treats patients of all ages and has a special interest in pediatrics, sports medicine and tactical medicine. Dr. Pafford served as a nuclear reactor operator on a submarine for six years while serving in the U.S. Navy. He then received his bachelor of science degree at Purdue University. Dr. Pafford completed his medical education at the Indiana University School of Medicine and a family medicine residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Prior to joining Community Physician Network, Dr. Pafford practiced family and emergency medicine in Tipton. His office is located at 11501 Cumberland Road, Suite 500, Fishers.

Matthew Rendel, M.D., is a neurosurgeon with a special interest in complex spinal disorders, brain tumors and vascular disorders. He completed his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine and his neurosurgical residency at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, and then served on the faculty. Dr. Rendel provides care at Community Hospital South and Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Xian-Feng Zhu, M.D., is a board-certified internal medicine physician who enjoys treating all adult chronic medical diseases, but has a special interest in diabetes, endocrine problems and geriatric medicine. He completed his medical degree at Zhejiang Medical University and an internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He also completed an internal medicine residency program at Park Ridge Hospital at the University of Rochester in New York, and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Before coming to Community, he practiced for seven years as a general internist in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dr. Zhu’s office is located at 8920 Southpointe Drive, Suite B, Indianapolis.
