For release on December 04, 2014

RoundTripper has a new high-tech evaluation system used by Major League baseball players that will be available to Indiana baseball and softball players

Indianapolis---Community Health Network is now the sports medicine provider for RoundTripper Academy, a baseball and softball training facility in Westfield. The RoundTripper Academy was founded by Chris Estep, a former professional player who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Montreal Expos. Known for his hitting and speed, the All-American from the University of Kentucky is now a respected instructor for young talent who want to play college baseball, softball, or someday play Major League Baseball. Roundtripper Academy has served athletes in Central Indiana and throughout the Midwest for 20 years.

“Community Sports Medicine is proud to partner with Chris Estep and RoundTripper,” said Jason Fahrlander, North Region President at Community Health Network. “We will provide certified athletic trainers onsite and have additional services available to RoundTripper members including sports nutrition consultations, concussion awareness education, functional movement assessment and injury evaluations for clients of all ages. It’s another access point for athletes who take their sports performances seriously.”

The RoundTripper Academy now offers SmartKage™, the first quantitative technology system used by Major League Baseball. It measures 30 of the most important baseball and softball skills including hitting, pitching, fielding and speed. With these precise measurements, an athlete can work with coaches and trainers to develop a workout program that will improve strength, speed, agility and power—with the goal of achieving peak performance. Performance data is captured in real time and can be used for player development, college recruiting or professional scouting.
