Community Health Network hires vice president of marketing and communications

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network has named Dixie Platt vice president of marketing and communications. Platt has more than 30 years of successful experience, nearly 20 of those in the healthcare industry at SSM Healthcare, headquartered in St. Louis. SSM Healthcare is a $4 billion healthcare system that includes 18 hospitals in four states, with nearly 30,000 employees and 1,300 employed physicians.

At Community, Platt will serve as part of the executive leadership team of the Office of Patient Experience and will a lead a team in charge of marketing and branding, advertising, market research, public and media relations, eBusiness and internal communications.

“Dixie brings a great blend of experience and expertise to Community Health Network,” said Tom Malasto, Community’s chief patient experience officer. “Besides her successful background in marketing and communications, she is a proven leader with strong strategic planning skills, which will make her an extraordinary asset for Community.”

Most recently, Platt was SSM’s senior vice president of communications, public policy and external relations. She also has held titles of senior vice president for mission and external relations; corporate vice president for communications, strategic planning and marketing; and president of the SSM Policy Institute. Her guidance was essential in helping SSM became the first healthcare system in the nation to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Platt, who has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, will start her new position on September 2.
