Chicago will serenade donors at Community Health Network Foundation cancer fundraiser

For release on August 18, 2014

The Giving Gig 2015 will raise funds to help Community's cancer patients with financial struggles

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network Foundation officials today announced that the iconic band Chicago will headline The Giving Gig 2015, the non-profit's annual event that raises donations to help Community Health Network's cancer patients challenged with financial difficulties.

The Giving Gig will be held on February 14, 2015, at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown hotel. Chicago's performance will highlight an evening of giving and romance, with proceeds benefiting Community's cancer patients and their families.

Tickets for the Valentine's Day event became available today and can be purchased by visiting eCommunity.com/GivingGig or calling 317-355-4483.

A table accommodating 10 guests is $3,000, a VIP Valentine's Day couples package is available for $1,200 and individual tickets cost $300. All guests will enjoy a cocktail reception and silent auction, a four-course gourmet dinner, a live auction and dancing during the Chicago concert. In addition, those purchasing the VIP package will receive complementary valet parking, access to an exclusive after party, an overnight stay at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott and premium Valentine's Day gifts donated by local and national retailers.

Event planners say they expect the event to sell-out, given the popularity of The Giving Gig 2014 held this past February. That event raised $825,000 to establish a new Oncology Patient Assistance Fund that currently helps cancer patients overcome financial barriers that limit their access to nutrition, medication, transportation and basic needs. Additional proceeds from the fundraiser are providing free genetic tests to at-risk patients with a family history of cancer.

Joyce Irwin, Community Health Network Foundation's president and CEO, says The Giving Gig will bring 1,000 donors together to raise additional financial support needed to fund Community's on-going commitment to helping cancer patients in need of crucial assistance.

"Our third annual event will raise funds needed to help our cancer patients, and their families, manage every day needs while fighting the strongest fight possible," Irwin said. "While we raised significant funding this year, the need is so great that we need to ask our donors and corporate partners to unite again in 2015 so that we can continue to help those patients who need extra support. At The Giving Gig, you can help ordinary people during extraordinary times, and have fun along the way."

Known for their chart-topping love songs and energetic brass ensemble, Chicago is one of the world's best-selling groups of all time, having sold more than 100 million records over five decades. Their performance at The Giving Gig is expected to include their most famous ballads, like "You're the Inspiration," "Hard Habit to Break," "Look Away," "Saturday in the Park" and "If You Leave Me Now."

The Giving Gig is made possible by the generosity of Alderson Commercial Group and AxiomPort. Additional support comes from Anthem, BSA LifeStructures, Emmis Communications, Hofmeister Personal Jewelers, IBJ Media, Indianapolis Monthly, Sport Graphics and WTHR Channel 13.
