Community Physician Network welcomes gastroenterology care providers

Indianapolis, IN--- Community Physician Network, the integrated physician group at Community Health Network, has welcomed a new team of gastroenterology care providers. The team of board-certified specialists, formerly known as Gastroenterology Associates, offers experienced care at two convenient Indianapolis locations.

Providers joining the Community team include board-certified physicians David Hollander, MD, Eldred MacDonell, MD, Joseph Henderson, MD, Stephen Carlson, MD, Dan Ciaccia, MD, Matthew Harrison, MD, and Ninad Shah, MD; board-certified nurse practitioner Catherine Cooper, CNP; and board-certified physician assistants Catherine Le, PA-C, Laura Hoots, PA-C, and Cari Richmond, PA-C.

The newly integrated gastroenterology care team provides full-time coverage at Community Hospital East, Community Hospital North and Community Heart and Vascular hospital, with offices conveniently located near the hospital facilities.

Community Physician Network’s gastroenterology care team provides comprehensive evaluation and management of digestive and liver diseases, with physicians specialized in techniques of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Services include:

  • Colonoscopy – to screen for colon cancer and evaluate symptoms as they relate to the rectum or colon, such as diarrhea, rectal bleeding or anemia; endoscopic mucosal resection of large polyps and stenting.
  • Upper GI endoscopy (EGD) – to help evaluate symptoms such as frequent heartburn/indigestion, difficulty swallowing, vomiting, and upper abdominal or chest pain.
  • EGD with esophageal dilation – to treat narrowing of the esophagus for those who have difficulty swallowing.
  • EGD with ablation therapy for Barrett’s Esophagus – to help destroy pre-malignant tissue.
  • Esophageal manometry and esophageal pH monitoring - to help diagnose swallowing disorders, chest pain or atypical gastroesophageal reflux.
  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography – to allow investigation of some types of abdominal pain, abnormal liver or pancreas enzymes, or abnormal imaging studies of the liver or pancreas.
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) – to get detailed ultrasound assessment of lesions involving the rectum, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, liver, bile duct or mediastinum (mid-chest area).
  • Capsule endoscopy – to obtain video photographs of the small intestine.

Community’s gastroenterology care providers are currently accepting patients by physician or self-referral. They work closely with the patient’s primary care physician to evaluate and manage the patient’s digestive health and achieve the best possible outcomes.
