Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network and its foundation board of directors has named Joyce Irwin as the new president and CEO of Community Health Network Foundation. The foundation is the not-for-profit arm of the network and raises financial support for programs that improve health and wellness in Central Indiana. Jeffrey Boester, M.D., has served as interim president and CEO since June. Irwin begins her new role on October 22.
“We are pleased to bring Joyce on board with her extensive experience and leadership,” said Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network. “Her enthusiasm and knowledge will help propel the foundation into the future, as we look to develop strong fundraising strategies and relationships within all the local communities we serve.”
Irwin was selected following an extensive search and comes to the Community Health Network Foundation after having served most recently as national director of state government affairs, regulatory and public policy, at Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis, where she held several leadership positions over the past eight years. Her career has also included experience in strategic marketing, healthcare operations, practice management, and consumer services in Central Indiana-based organizations. Prior to her employment at Roche Diagnostics, Irwin worked as a consultant on corporate public policy for Eli Lilly and Company.
“Our successful search was culminated after conducting interviews among several civic and business leaders from around the Indianapolis area,” said Frank Hancock, vice chairman of Community Health Network Foundation Board of Directors and head of the search committee. “We interviewed an excellent group of people and found Joyce was clearly the most qualified and best person for the position, which resulted in her being our unanimous choice as the next foundation president and CEO.”
Irwin received a bachelor of science and master’s degree in education from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Her professional and community leadership includes having served on several local boards of directors: Marion County Health and Hospital Corporation; Wishard Hospital Health Foundation; Indiana Juvenile Diabetes Research; Crossroads Rehabilitation Center; Little Red Door Cancer Agency; and Women in Government, among others. Irwin is a past member of the executive committee of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She served as chair of the 2012 Go Red for Women for the American Heart Association. In addition, Irwin is a member of Executive Women in Healthcare and currently serves as president of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series, a leadership program for women in public service. She was personally presented the honor of “Outstanding Community Volunteer” by President George W. Bush and “Sagamore of the Wabash” for outstanding service to the state of Indiana by former Governor Robert Orr.
