Indianapolis, IN---According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States. The ACS recommends a cancer related checkup by a physician, including skin examination, for people ages 20 or older. In 2009, more than 1 million non-melanoma and 68,720 melanoma cases were estimated in the United States.
In order to help consumers determine their risk of skin cancer, Community Regional Cancer Care, part of Community Health Network, will offer free skin cancer screenings in conjunction with the American Cancer Society and dermatologists certified by the American Academy of Dermatology. The screenings will be conducted by appointment only, by calling 800-777-7775.
