Community Health Network to offer free health services at INShape Black & Minority Health Fair; Network to provide free screenings, health education, and medical consultations

For release on July 12, 2011

Indianapolis, IN---Community Health Network is the title sponsor for this year’s INShape Black & Minority Health Fair, to be held July 14-17 at the Indiana Convention Center, during Indiana Black Expo. As the primary sponsor, Community will be providing free health screenings, education and “Ask the Doctor” consultations. This event offers increased access to health care and educates attendees on important health and wellness topics.

During the event, Community will be offering free health screenings, which have always been one of Indiana Black Expo’s most popular and important components. Community will provide medical professionals, who will measure blood pressure and body mass index. MidAmerica Cinical Laboratories, will provide analysis of the blood tests that measure cholesterol, glucose, A1C and creatinine levels, as well as detection of sickle cell anemia. The health screenings are an opportunity for attendees to review their current health and take action if a problem is found.

Being healthy begins with education, which is why, along with the screenings, there will be consultation areas designated for health education. Educational counseling will also be offered for those interested. Materials and information will be provided regarding topics ranging from diabetes and cancer to bariatric needs and sleep disorders.

This year, Community will host an “Ask the Doctor” feature at the event. Community physicians will be on hand for one-on-one consultations to answer health questions. For those attendees who do not already have a primary care physician, this is also an opportunity to get connected with a doctor for regular visits. Online appointment scheduling will be available.
