Q&A with Josef Newgarden
We got the chance to talk with Josef Newgarden about how he stays healthy and prepares for the biggest race in IndyCar, the Indianapolis 500.
How do you stay active?
Outdoor activities such as biking, running and/or exploring.
What’s your go-to healthy snack?
What’s your favorite sport, besides IndyCar racing?
How did you prepare for the Indy 500?
Just like any other IndyCar race it's an extension of the training we do. The preparation starts before the year even starts. Mental training, muscular endurance and cardiovascular strength are all areas of focus.
What does a race day meal look like?
Something plain that can't upset my stomach that has good carbohydrates and a little protein, so maybe pasta and chicken.
Is there anything special that you do on race day?
Nap before the race.
What’s your favorite thing about the Indy 500?
The size and scale of the race. It's shocking!
