Community Heart and Vascular Hospital

This workshop raises awareness to important keys for managing stress and familiarizes both caregivers and the general public with survival tips and resources that are critical for the caregiver's journey. The workshop is based on a three-step "self-care-first" formula for successful caregiving that emphasizes one's own preventive care, effective stress reduction and management, and knowledge of/access to community supports, particularly those of CICOA.

This 2 1/2 hour class is for future parents, parents and grandparents. It is an American Heart Association Family & Friends course, taught by an AHA certified instructor. The hands-on instruction covers infant, child and adult CPR. Additional take-home materials from the American Academy of Pediatrics on the subject of Safety and Prevention are included.

Patients interested in the Lap Band System® and Orbera® should attend one of the Community Hamilton Pavilion sessions.

Community South - If you are a potential surgery patient, the session could last up to 3 hours.

This class meets one evening per week for 4 weeks. It is recommended for all first-time moms and dads/partners. The RN educator will cover the labor and birth process, relaxation and comfort, pain medication options, postpartum and newborn care. A tour of the maternity unit is included in this class, please do not register for a tour separately.
