Residency Salaries and Benefits

Below are the salaries and additional benefits for residents and fellows of the following programs:

Salaries

Community Hospital East Family Medicine Residency
  • Resident I: $54,579; $7,500 "start" bonus
  • Resident II: $58,399 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY II residents for USMLE Part 3 and permanent licensure in the state of Indiana.)
  • Resident III: $62,487 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY III residents for ABFM test and permanent licensure in the state of Indiana.)
  • Chief Resident: $65,360
Community South Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency
  • Resident I: $54,579; $7,500 "start" bonus
  • Resident II: $58,399 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY II residents for Comlex Part 3 and permanent licensure in the state of Indiana.)
  • Resident III: $62,487 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY III residents for ACOFP exam and permanent licensure in the state of Indiana.)
  • Chief Resident: $65,360
Hospitalist Fellowship Program

Salary: $80,000

Podiatry Residency Program
  • Resident I: $54,579; $1,000 "start" bonus
  • Resident II: $58,399
  • Resident III: $62,487
Psychiatry Residency Program
  • Resident I: $55,670; $7,500 "start" bonus
  • Resident II: $59,532 (In addition, up to $1,500 is provided to PGY II residents for USMLE/COMLEX Part 3 and permanent licensure in the State of Indiana.)
  • Resident III: $63,499
  • Chief Resident (3rd year): $66,670
  • Resident IV: $66,805
  • Chief Resident (4th year): $69,280

Additional Benefits

Paid Time Away (PTA)

  • Twenty-one (21) weekdays for vacation, illness, business, personal or other leaves of absence.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

  • Five (5) days off for continuing medical education (CME).
  • Residents/fellows are allotted $2500/year for expenses.

Laptop
Residents/fellows are provided a laptop for use during residency/fellowship program; laptops become the personal property of graduates upon successful completion of the residency program or fellowship.

Meals
The hospital provides meals free of charge during working hours.

Fitness Center
Residents/fellows have free membership to Community's fitness centers, including BodyZone North near Community Hospital North, BodyZone East located in Community Hospital East and BodyZone South located in Community Hospital South. BodyZone facilities are accessible 24/7.

Lab Coats
Professional lab coats with your name are furnished at the beginning of your residency program.

Medical Insurance
Residents/fellows and their families are eligible for the same pre-tax health insurance benefits available to network employees and may choose from two different plans. Dental and vision plans also are available.

Health Care and Dependent Care
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options for both health care and dependent care are available.

Retirement Plan
Residents/fellows are eligible for the network's retirement plan, including a variety of 401k options.

Sick Leave and Long-Term Disability
In addition to paid time off, residents/fellows are eligible for short-term and long-term disability benefits.

Life Insurance
Residents/fellows and their dependents are eligible for group life insurance as a pre-tax benefit.

Malpractice Insurance
The network provides, without cost to the resident/fellow, a public liability policy and malpractice insurance policy.
