Pharmacy Residency Benefits

Pharmacy residents are eligible for benefits similar to other employees of the pharmacy department at Community Health Network.

Vacation
Eligible for accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) for vacation, sick, interview and holiday time off. Residents will accrue 8.61 hours of PTO per 2-week pay period. Professional meetings required by the residency are not counted as PTO.

Meetings/travel
Our residents are required to attend and present their residency project at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting, Community Health Network Multidisciplinary Scholarly Activity Symposium, and Great Lakes Pharmacy Residency Conference.

BLS/ACLS
Our residents complete American Heart Association’s BLS/ACLS training, as our network pharmacists are an essential part of the resuscitation team at our hospitals.

Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate
Residents are welcome to participate in the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate (IPTeC) as part of residency.

Fitness center
The network has on- and off-site fitness centers available for a small fee. BodyZone has two locations, both open 24/7: BodyZone North is near Community Hospital North and BodyZone East is located inside Community Hospital East.

Parking
Covered and surface lot parking is available at the hospitals at no cost.

Medical insurance
Residents and their families are eligible for the same pre-tax health insurance benefits available to network employees and may choose from the available plans. Dental and vision plans also are available.

Healthcare and dependent care
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options for healthcare, limited purpose, and daycare/dependent care are available.

Technology
Residents are supplied with a laptop for professional use during the residency year. Desktop computers are available in designated resident space at each hospital location. Residents will have access to the same databases as network employees, which may be subject to change, but currently include Lexicomp®, PubMed®, Natural Medicines®, UpToDate®, and more.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and VITAL Worklife
Pharmacy residents are eligible for counseling and well-being services free of charge similar to other employees at Community Health Network.

Resident Mentoring
A mentor will be selected for each resident to provide guidance and support in expanding their professional network, refining resident clinical skills, and navigating their career path. Discussions with the mentor/mentee will occur related to the resident’s needs to help develop a personal relationship from which they can gain professional advice during their training. Professional advice may include, but not be limited to, reaching short- and long-term goals, presentation review, responding to preceptor feedback, CV/Letter of intent review, mock interviews, etc.
